Know About Rudraksha!
Rudraksha beads, scientifically known as Elaeocarpus Ganitrus, derive their name from the Sanskrit words “Rudra” (Shiva) and “Aksham” (tear of an eye), translating to the “Eyes of Lord Shiva.”
And so Rudraksha is revered as a manifestation of the tears of joy or bliss that Lord Shiva once shed. It is a beautiful story that creates a deep, spiritual connection to humankind. Rudra, another name for Lord Shiva, is the lord who eradicates misery, transforming tears of sorrow into tears of bliss, represented by Rudraksha.
Rudraksha is believed to hold the secrets of the entire cosmos’ evolution. Devotees of Lord Shiva wear these beads for a peaceful life and deeper meditation. Yogis, saints, and spiritualists have worn Rudraksha for ages to stay connected with the Divine, building good health, self-empowerment, and fearlessness. These beads, renowned for divine protection, are worn individually or as a Mala, a chain in Hindi.
Rudraksha, with origins traced to Lord Shiva, known as “Devon ke Dev Mahadev” (Lord of the Lords), has been known and used since time immemorial. Images and statues of Lord Shiva depict the use of Rudraksha bead Malas (Rosary) in various historical eras, suggesting that Shiva himself recognised their merits and passed them on for the benefit of later generations.
These sacred beads contribute to maintaining physical and mental health, creating a fearless life on the spiritual journey towards enlightenment and liberation. The rarity and natural origin of Rudraksha create mysteries that have persisted for ages, with descriptions found in ancient epics such as Shiv Mahapuran (Shiv Puran), Shrimad Devibhagwat, Padma Puran, Skanda Puran, and more.
Since then, the Rudraksha tree has flourished in Gauda Land, the favoured place of Lord Shiva, stretching from the great Himalayan belt to Southeast Asia. While it grows in various countries such as Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Tibet, Bhutan, Indonesia, etc., its primary localisation is in Nepal.
Individuals of any Varna, whether men, women, or children, can wear any colour of Rudraksha if they are free from sins and suffering, receiving blessings from all the Gods.
Different Mukhi Rudraksha emit variable signals, contributing to positive beneficial effects on overall systemic physiology.
Rudraksha is noted as a renowned electromagnetic bead effective in treating various chronic disorders. Studies indicate that the electromagnetic properties of Rudraksha beads activate the body’s energy wheel, influencing the bioelectrical properties and addressing chronic diseases like blood pressure, heart rate, diabetes, gynaecological problems, neurological disorders, mental issues, insomnia, and rheumatism. The act of rotating Rudraksha between two copper coins is suggested as evidence of its electromagnetic property.
It is believed that wearing Rudraksha brings peace and prosperity in one's life.
Different types of Rudraksha
According to the Shiv Puran, Rudrakshas range from One Mukhi to Fourteen Mukhi, while the Devi Bhagwat mentions 15 Mukhi to 21 Mukhi Rudrakshas.
